No New GamesMaster TV Show Says Dominik Diamond

Dominik Diamond, the host of GamesMaster has said there will be now new GamesMaster TV shows on his facebook page.

GamesMaster was a British television show, screened on Channel 4 from 1992 to 1998, and was the first ever UK television show dedicated to computer and video games. Featuring the latest news and reviews of the time it was also known for its challenges where public and celebrities alike would take part in gaming challenges to win the coveted Golden Joystick. Some classic examples were playing two copies of Virtua Cop 2 at the same time and multiplayer vs challenges.

Dominik Diamond usually presented the show with Sir Patrick Moore appearing in pre-recorded inserts as the ‘Games Master’ although other co hosts would appear during challenges and review segments such as Dave ‘Games Animal’ Perry.

Dominik Diamond said earlier yesterday on his Facebook page.

Thank you once again for all the kind comments on Gamesmaster but, to answer the always-asked question, there will be no more shows and I won’t ever go back to game broadcasting.
Not because I don’t love games. Most of what little free time I have had in last 12 months was spent on FIFA. Or GTA5. Or Max Payne 3.
But when the two biggest ‘things’ in game comment culture are ‪#‎pewdiepie‬ and ‪#‎gamergate‬ it’s a part of the world I no longer understand.

Whilst it has been over 15 years since GamesMaster last broadcast, the show still carries on in Magazine form with GamesMaster magazine one of the few surviving gaming magazines in the UK. It’s a huge shame Dominik will not host any possible future GamesMaster shows as he was a huge part of its success and enjoyment although with it being so long, any hope of a possible return is far outside the relms of possibility right now. We have huge respect for Dominik Diamond and thank him for the many years of enjoyment we got from GamesMaster.
